Educator Resources

Educator resources are available for several of the films to use in the classroom and beyond. Links to the films are embedded within the educational materials.

Exploring Ocean Frontiers Educator Resources

The Exploring Ocean Frontiers Educator Resources are based on the award-winning Ocean Frontiers film series that portrays how unlikely allies — government, industry, science and conservation — are working together to find solutions that benefit ocean ecosystems and economies. The resources include secondary lessons and post-secondary discussion guides to engage students on an inquiry-based educational journey in ocean stewardship and facilitate discussions on collaborative ocean planning and the future of our oceans. The secondary lessons are connected to U.S. Next Generation Science Standards.

The Great Bear Sea Curriculum Resources

The Exploring the Great Bear Sea Elementary, Secondary and Post-Secondary Curriculum Resources are based on the film The Great Bear Sea: Reflecting on the Past, Planning for the Future and can be used to engage students in an inquiry-based, educational journey through the Great Bear Sea exploring a variety of themes such as Indigenous Knowledge, collaborative science, marine planning, biodiversity, sustainable resource management and marine stewardship. Students explore the importance of this region of BC – and our connection to both land and sea – through place-based stories, traditions and histories, bringing a diversity of First Peoples’ perspectives from this region into the classroom. The K – 12 resources are connected to the revised British Columbia curriculum.
